Looks good. I dont think the hand stitching would be necessary. I cant see a closer version of the shirt when I click on it.

Unh, with regards to contrast stitching, I wouldn't get too cute with something like this. Maybe contrast color buttonholes. Why not have him make you a pajama top to wear around using satin piping?
It is interesting that he pleated the pocket fronts. How are you enjoying it?

You could always do a slightly brighter shade of blue for the pajama top piping.
