Lets talk about clothing items that you think people should not corners on, ie, things that are well worth paying the premium for the extra quality.

Things can be skimped on and one can get by, but there are some things that should not be skimped on.

Ties, nothing looks worse than a cheap tie.

As a lover of handwork I'm happy to pay the extra for it, on any item of clothing. But one can skimp and not have handwork and get by quite ok
but a cheap tie is inexcusable. Ruins any effort made.

Shoes. Good quality, nicely designed shoes can upgrade what you are wearing. Choosing well designed shoes is more a matter of taste than cost but most appealing shoes are going to be at the upper ends of the price range. ANd invest money to keep them up, repair and shine them.
