Calling John Gall...

John, we last met - for the last and second time - in the summer of 2012.  Do you remember?  It seems an awful long while ago - almost a different world.
We met the first time in Bar Italia (I was early, you were late!) and we necked an espresso before setting off for Chiltern Street.  We thought JS  wouldn't be there but we bumped into him in the street.  I seem to remember Paul and some other guys taking photos in the basement.  Along the way we'd talked about the women in 'Mad Men', the more obscure side of London, commented on some of the architecture we passed (something in the style of Norman Shaw?) and even Christine Keeler and Stephen Ward.  You had to go and JS took me for a beer at that pub nearby before going home to do (I think) some picture-framing and play his sax.
I spent the train journey home clutching whatever it was I'd bought that day (might have been an unlined Press), reading Edna O'Brien and chatting to/up the woman who was unfortunate to find herself sitting beside me.

Not a bad summer.  We also lunched at an Italian where there was building work going on after meeting at Chiltern Street.  Jeff was still with us then.  Paul S had just become a Dad.  I think Ken Lovegrove was still knocking around.

Not been to London since then but my younger daughter (now twenty four) was visiting the Tate the other weekend.
