The first Ivy shirts I wore were Brooks.  I'm still wearing exactly the same make if not the same shirts.  I can stand only so much fraying and bursting around the collar and one changes shape (or can do).  Jimmy to IS: 'What's a good shirt?'  IS: 'Brooks'.  Silent intake of breath?  Anyway I find that reassuring.  Some liked Troy Guild.  I think Jimmy did.  I wore Mercer to my daughter's wedding but it's still Brooks on most days: periwinkle blue.  (Some might just call it 'blue' and fair enough, but...).
