This, on IG (yes?), looks the business: a lovely advance on 'The Syllabus'. I only wish the site (or whatever you want to call it) would allow me to proceed further. But there we are. I may snack but not feast.
Nice photograph of an 18th century building, somewhere in London, examples of which my home town and county has in abundance. The Renaissance/Italian/Inigo Jones influence turned into something ubiquitous if not democratic (for how could that be?) Would be nice to see images of Covent Garden as it was/was intended to be: a good deal more 'Italian' than any modern tourist might suppose.
TRS has an unerring eye for the pleasing, often slightly off-beat image. An English tradition perhaps, following Mayne, Fletcher, Nairn, Cobb, Fishman et al.
As for the shoes and clothing, I have always tried tuning into his take on everything - without being able to pull it off.
He has a/the 'feel' for it all, in a unified way whilst yet retaining something very idiosyncratic: an admirable balancing act.
This is a Modernism even a reactionary like me can relate to.
I raise my glass.
He's a tease... comes and goes... like a bolt of lightning...
You see? They seek him here, they seek him there, that demn elusive Gibson chap...
You may proceed further. Not sure what's getting in the way. I've posted quite a lot of stuff on Instagram the last 5 years or so, and some of it is half decent. Plenty of people worth following. Loads in Japan.
I get to the gents' toilet snap then I'm hit with the Facebook-type shit. There are a couple of snaps of our Gibson on there I would not show to my daughters, even excluding one where he is obviously standing in for Tony Perkins at the Bates motel.
Jack Nicholson staring across does not help here.
