In the UK I quite like a 'free' limoncello at the end of an Italian meal although it never quite tastes the same as in Italy.
Yes free limoncello is absolutely fine. That used to be offered in Bologna which is a top Italian City for scoff. It also has porticoes and an ancient university.
As this is Talk Ivy I should also mention De Paz by the main square which The Weejun used to rave about. American shirts, plus Trickers and good quality British knitwear. They had two stores when I was there.

One of the most valued freebies i received in an Italian restaurant was a key ring in the shape of Italy with restaurant name on the back. From Passo Tonale a ski resort you could ski out in half a day with a black run that most with a week or two experience could complete. I was with novices and beginners in ski school and it was a simple and enjoyable trip.
Just to continue taking this thread away from its origins. Kirshwasser? Just had some of this with a cheese fondue. Possibly worse than a grappa. I bought the bottle in Germany 4 years ago and now I know why it remains in the drinks cabinet.
If all goes according to plan, I'll be drinking Ricard tomorrow, prior to ordering lobster bisque. Also a glass of Perrier water, some decent white wine - when I shall silently toast my good friend Mr. Gall - followed by cofffee. My mouth is watering already.
