^ All true, sadly, Hill.  I know.  Nice to see you - it always is.  But I did so love the original website and would put my hand in my pocket just to be able to view it again in all its beautiful, off-centre, Soho/jazz festival/Madras glory.

Incidentally, was there - is there - a shirtmaker called Paul Simon?  Presumably not Paul of Chiltern Street.

The Mod angle is being pedalled to some degree. But there is little in the shop that is overtly Mod, the odd parka maybe, certainly no nipped in jackets or pointy shoes. I’ve never spent time on Mod forums but I suspect they have similar enlivening debates, only the endless question would be ‘Is this Mod?’

As Hill says, they preach to a broad church with cash being the gospel.

They still sell some undeniably lovely items.

They would’ve been out of business years ago if they relied on the ‘purists’, we should be grateful,

I agree with Staxfan. When the Covent garden shop closed I thought it was the end and it wasn't a good feeling. I quite like the direction the shop is moving in although I thought the collaboration with Weller was iffy. I'm not now a regular customer so it doesn't really matter but I would miss it.

Sure.  If they'd tried living off what I've bought off them over the years they would have starved.  I guess, had I been in - or nearer to - London I would have discovered 2 Russell Street far earlier - which would have been a great blessing.  There are plenty of coats and jackets I hang my nose over on the Chiltern Street website - and, needless to say, I wish Paul all the very best.

I loaded up with 6-7 jackets, 8-9 prs of footwear and various other items, ( only a few shirts, could never get on with their early shirts), from Chiltern St up to lockdown, now, like many of us I'm fully stocked, there will be the odd item that catches my eye but they ain't gonna get rich from me...
