This is rather stupid really but I'd be glad if slightly older posters have any knowledge of these. JS sold me about half a dozen back in 2007 or thereabouts. 'Fred Perry buy these from us' I distinctly remember him saying. They were all dark green, without the laurel leaf, none in my size and smelled like my old cub scout sweater. They came from the Russell Street basement and sold like hot cakes on Ebay, together with Bass Weejuns and high-waisted trousers etc. A trawl of Ebay now reveals nothing. I think they were wool but they may have been a mix.
Would they have been from the 60s or the 70s?
Dubious associations aside, I might well have kept one of these back had they been in my size.
That Cub sweater smell is glorious isn't it? I've still got mine, and often give it a Proustian sniff or two, then cast a disgusted glance at the polyester monstrosities that my lads have to wear instead nowadays. The Fred Perry's sound good.
They were. John Simons was on good form that morning, too, bringing stuff out from dark corners and commentating. On saddle bucks - the first pair I'd ever seen, and these jumpers. Also a huge pair of J.Simons black wingtips, real hefty buggers.
