These are worth searching for as a slightly 'under the radar' alternative to Smedley (it turns up pretty frequently in my neck of the woods, about a twenty minute drive to the factory and its shop). The one I have is in navy and was an inexpensive Ebay buy. Once on sale at Russell Street, I believe - in the 80s perhaps?
I took this out this morning - ever the optimist - and thought about doing the navy/navy look, wearing it beneath lambswool or cashmere. An L.L.Bean flannel shirt and some mid-grey Russell Athletic won out.
Thanks to Chris_H, who originally brought the name to my attention.
A quick squint on Ebay reveals nothing much of interest. Pity. A 'marino' wool jumper: brown, medium.
^ I was offered the said jumper, with a modest discount, but didn't want wool.
I wore my Cross Creek out this morning - but with a navy cashmere v-neck over it. My arms, you see.
I'm still very interested in Geeson - would like another in navy, a couple in olive green.
Made in the original Sunspel area, I think.
Fan of the navy on navy. When it works it works.
The Cross Creek is navy with a deep red ladder stripe; rather nice. The rather elderly Brooks cashmere v-neck (made in the UK) is solid. Teamed with a pair of faded Levis it's not a bad look for a leisurely walk around town.
Oddly, I'm finding my 'Sample Only, Not For Sale' Keds rather uncomfortable.
Wore the Nicky Deakins instead.
