A Jewish Icon: The Delectable Miss Kahn

Totally non-Ivy (let's hope AUS isn't looking in), for which I beg your indulgence.  We watched 'Young Frankenstein' a few evenings ago.  It has its flaws - but Madeline Kahn is not one of them.  In fact, the entire movie is pretty Jewish - Mel, Marty, Madeline, Gene.  And why not indeed?  The Marx Brothers are right in there, together with James Whale.
Madeline Kahn - taken too young.

You won’t get any complaints from me— except maybe to ask, “What FLAWS????   A perfect movie to my eye.

‘No matter what you hear in there, no matter how cruelly I beg you, no matter how terribly I may scream, do not open this door or you will undo everything I have worked for. Do you understand? Do not open this door.’

Excellent music and atmosphere.  The photography and sets are spot on.  You need to know 'Frankenstein', 'Bride', 'Son' and 'Ghost' pretty thoroughly, though, to appreciate everything: not only the jokes.  The parody of the scenes between Karloff and Heggie in 'Bride' are brilliantly handled.

We must, now, see 'Judy Berlin' before revisiting 'Paper Moon', 'Blazing Saddles' and anything else we can lay our hands on.
I adored Edie Falco in 'The Sopranos' - to the extent I kept wishing she'd put a bullet in that pig of a husband.
