Does anyone on here own a pair of these?
I`ve got numerous pairs of chinos (Uniqlo and Buzz Rickson), and needlecord jeans in all the colours i`ll ever need but i don`t own any smart grey trousers. I think flannel trousers would be too formal (and perhaps ergo too ENGLISH) for my own needs and personal style but i think whipcord (ahem) `pants` sound increasingly interesting to me for a few reasons.
I have heard them described as `English country style` trousers although i really do not think of these trousers as being typically English. To me it appears that they seem to be (or seem to have become) more of a classic American country and hunting staple choice .But then again i may well be moving in the wrong type of social circles...(lol!)).
What i like about these whipcord trousers is that they are smart but also quite rugged, hardwearing and not effete.(Weren`t they originally designed for horse riding?).The texture of whipcord interests me and i think it might go very well against and with other country or rustic style textures and jackets like corduroy Buffercoats and with suede PB`s and decent knitwear.Whipcord trousers seem to be more of an attractively and interesting obscure clothing choice.I think they could be quite an interesting and soulful clothing choice.
I`m not 100% sure about the Filsons cut but i would get just get them tapered to be more slim fitting.

Recently i posted on T.I. some correspondence that i received from a New Yorker who professed to have worn Playboys back in the 60`s.He mentioned that whipcord pants were also worn at this time by (New York) men who dressed in the Ivy League style.
For matters of accuracy i`m keen to state that i don`t believe i first saw this mans review of the GBX Playboy on the citi shoes website as i first wrote in my post on this subject.I believe his original online customer review of gbx Playboys was posted on another webstore site (although i can`t remember which one...).My erroneous reference to the citishoes webstore was made purely as result of slopppiness and laziness.
Jesmond's post - interesting as always - attracted nil attention even during the Boom Years of 'Talk Ivy'. Was Frosty under the weather that day?
Jesmond was right: whipcord sounds enticing.
Filson has always been pretty highly priced; seems popular in Japan. I remember, some years ago, probably around 2010/11 someone on Ebay was offering some dirt-marked, paint-spattered example (work wear) at quite a high price. I eventually shelled out for a mackinaw but re-sold it in 2018.
