Skipper's Mill

Well, it's lovely to have this place back. Used to post a bit bitd, never particularly prolific but bought and sold a few things and learned lots.

Have been lurking since the re-emergence and it's good to see some old names back (if in new guises).

Anyway, inspired by a post on the bd, shetland, cords thread (I forget by who), I searched for and bought a couple of shets from Skipper's Mill.

The verdict: very impressed - firstly they came in 2 days despite no delivery charge; saddle shoulder, slim but not skinny fit, lovely feel. Only gripe is that the neck is a tiny bit high/tight.

Compared against others on the market they are great value at £99 apiece. I have shetlands from Brooks Bros, J Press, Harley, Drakes and The Croft House, and these beat most of those. Only one to compare is my vintage Brooks. Would definitely recommend. 31 colours to choose from too.

Just dont buy them all as I want to go back for more when I have more cash.

Re: Skipper's Mill

Thank you very much - appreciated.  But others kept the old flame burning: TRS, Woof, Yuca - to name but three.  Robbie was still hanging.  Patrick has never been far away.  Now we have new, great posters like Alvey, Jdemy and Spendthrift.  I'd love to see a whole heap of the old guys return: too many to name.

Yes welcome back The Dean. AFS don't forget Staxfan. Every time he posts I don't have to. Kindred spirits.
I reckon some of the old guys will return if we keep the show on the road.

Yep, Stax.  Thanks for reminding me, Robbie.  I'm hoping Chris will pop in from time to time.

BTW, Robbie, I meant to say you were 'hanging in there', not 'hanging'.  LOL.

No I haven't been back to that bar in Helsinki. Normally I'm only passing through there and I won't be back till mid January (hopefully) on my return to the  UK. Like many people my life has been disrupted by the pandemic and all my plans are 'up in the air'.
