Is there a huge amount of traffic/gossip over there? Do they have some resident genius/wizard of Ivy/prep/trad/English tailoring/cosplay? It looks to my tired old eyes like a mighty slick enterprise - originating where? Someone said about Over Here (and JFM); 'Who cares?' when I suggested it might be playful - fun, as Frosty might have had it (although he did take his fun seriously, to be sure). This world cannot spin on a natural shoulder/OCBD/loafer/chinos axis forever and ever - some of us, like 2RS, think there should be more spice in the pudding.
Some silly and unkind things being said over there concerning a friend of mine. Yes, gossip. And mendacious with it.
They look in here, we look in there. Who is Doghouse?
And topics on 'Ask Andy' are 'trending'. Truly we are in the world of - as Shooman would have put it - the inane. Mind you, they are 'trad'. 'Trending trad'.
There appears to be some disagreement over there over whether or not you are about to have a psychotic episode. In all honesty I'm on the fence.
Who the fuck do you think I am?
I think Beenie Man did it better.
Indeed.
Here, the Gallic shrug springs readily to mind. They do it so effortlessly, don't they?
Now, looking at one or two of their - not very illuminating - postings, I begin to wonder if the majority of them were ever very interested in 'Ivy League' to begin with.
Just a plain question: Is it supposed to be a more glitzy version of 'The Wardrobe'? That was always a bit 'high end' for my tastes.
One would hope so, as that was the meat of FNB
How those igents do waffle and preen. All to no great effect.
I haven’t got the slightest clue what you are on about here.
Is there a thread on ArseCandy about Talk Ivy?
Who or what is Dressedwell?
DW is a, er, forum of sorts: quite varied, sometimes rather entertaining (often in its banality, smugness, arrogrance and lack of wit, modesty etc.). These gentlemen may have once fancied themselves as Ivy dressers but probably now go in for bespoke undershorts and monogrammed, matching socks and cuff-links.
Oh dear!
They also pop up here from time to time to make Wodehousian silly asses of themselves so that they can then have interesting 'discussions' on their own site.
I've just had a little peek at this website and I have to say it didn't take me long to conclude they are all complete wankers. Who is the Pimpernel chap? Sub-literate, witless inanities spout forth from him.
The Pimpernel used to post on here under the name 4F Hepcat. The guy who was obsessed with Muslims.
There's always Allen Edmonds. Cheaper than Alden, a bit more than what I think of as the middle ground in pricing.
They don't seem to have a beef roll at the moment. If I was starting from scratch I'd look hard at the Cavanaugh

Don't forget, AE has a factory seconds section. It used to be a matter of calling them and asking, but it's now all digitized and handy.

Here's a Band-Aid color Cavanaugh for $120

For those of us in the UK, I believe shipping and customs charges have increased loads since this forum was last active. So AE seconds might end up costing more than firsts. Worth a punt for anyone in the US though of course.
Patrick, I'm pretty sure your post was intended for the loafer compromise thread.
I'm afraid Yuca is right about shipping and customs. One could easily afford good quality shoes, jackets, overcoats, knitwear and more circa 2007/8 (this is from memory: I was wearing AE wingtips when working at the 'progressive' rather than the 'posh' school). There was some kind of 'overhaul' of the US postal system and about £300 of goods never reached me. Ebay were of no help.
