This is an o.k video:
Tricks the top companies use to get poor people to pay thousands of dollars to buy goods made in sweatshops. Buy goods in sweatshops, and you can feel important too. The companies have really baffled the brains of the mob.

Not surprising considering that status is the biggest incentive for both clothes and fashion. This is an extreme degree but nowadays everyone is looking to be a player with a seat at the table and buying what the the rich/famous/powerful buy is a way to signal that.
^^^
it took me a while to work out why crowds of people were suddenly lined outside the Gucci store from about 15 years ago until this day, where-as before 2004 hardly anyone used to go into those types of places. It suddenly dawned on me that it was the internet , in particular social media driving this trend. All this highend brand stuff has gone mainstream now; it's amazing how so many desire the branding, they are happy to buy the lower end massed produced goods and associate it with the luxury lifestyle.
The ultimate point is, people flex the brands online, and average people want in on the action because it conveys status and importance to the masses, especially those who follow social media. And eventhough the reality is not really like that, it is the perception that creates the reality in people's minds.
What is most fascinating is how the internet has made people want to buy into status. Few people used to be like that once....people were simple minded with simple values. Now many want to live the luxury lifestyle and signal importance. A lot more people want to flex to impress their social media followers too. Wow, such a different world we live in now.
Designer boots costing well over $1,000 USD made with plastic heels and other cheap materials.

When things are massed produced, sourcing the quality materials and using superior tanning processes seems to be difficult. How luxury are the designer bags? It seems they aren't as luxury as many think they are.
A YSL bag with chrome tanned leather instead of the superior bark tanned leather. Costs $1,690 at retail, but costs $160 to make including the leather with a simple construction.

One of the LV bags deconstructed.
- plastic coating
- good leather underneath
- poor quality lining leather
- looks to be chrome tanned leather instead of bark tanned.

Even more interesting is this bloke's commentary on how the top designer bag makers are unable to use the top quality leather, and must use a standardized lower grade leather.

If this is authentic, looks like Chanel made one of their bags with a fake leather lining.

Now for the biggest news of all.....3 major secrets revealed.
1) ****Chanel sweat shops in France****
News got leaked recently about Chanel bags suffering a major decline in quality, and it seems like a sweatshop has been opened in France where they are producing some of the bags. Really low pay and poor conditions reported and the leather not as good as it could be. They have one bloke loading some leather he found in the boot of his car and telling the workers to use it. Can't find the link, but l did find this one instead.

2) ****Louis Vuitton gets caught outsourcing to cheap foreign labour****
Bernard Arnault is buying up many luxury brands, but it also looks like changes are happening under his watch. Why are the profits of LVMH rising so steeply? Maybe it is because the LVMH companies are outsourcing overseas so they can take advantage of cheap labour. Bernard tried denying outsourcing, but he got caught in the lie.
