Reclaiming Fred Perry: Could It Be Done?

Should it even be attempted?  I think it should.  If it can be done with Russell Athletic it can be done elsewhere.  On the other hand, gentlemen, a shufti on Ebay reveals so-called 'vintage' with logo after logo.  And then there's that awful 'Very rare', as though the shirt is some species of stamp or butterfly.  (I regularly come across book dealers on ABE trying to convince me their £4 is 'very rare').  So - too 'skinhead' now?  But wasn't Oliver wearing one in 'Love Story'?  Is it not thought JFK might have worn one?  (Or was it Bobby?).  Your opinions, please.

I always found the 60s Fred Perry too short. Did not stay tucked in.

A decent non-logo polo shirt is all I need. Did try Turkish knock off Lacoste during the 80s, but they shrunk in the wash.

Also have a few pub golf society polo shirts with small badges and writing on them - but I imagine they are anathema to AFS and others.

Reprehensible thought it might sound, I associate the playing of golf with my next-door neighbour and certain family members.  All of these people I would take a long walk to avoid.  KingstonIan, though, I would treat to a lemonade shandy with the greatest of pleasure, having enjoyed his postings down the years.

I’ve always avoided golf as I’ve seen how obsessed work colleagues became with it. But having got older I can see the attraction A round of golf and a drink after fills a day up quite nicely.  Bob Hope said that if you’re enjoying your golt, you’re not playing it properly.
