The Eisenhower Jacket

These were mentioned years ago, around the time we were discussing Derby, Peters and Catalina jackets, and I'd forgotten all about them.  I'd guess that these are more like a chore/military hybrid; are they not?  In fact, I was doing a quick trawl on Ebay for McGregor Ram-Jet and clicker jackets but these presented themselves.
With warmer weather approaching, most posters' thoughts will be turning towards lightweight jackets, so this thread may not be timely.  But I think they're worth bearing in mind.

Re: The Eisenhower Jacket

Do you mean the Dickies Eisenhower? Or the more military style cropped Eisenhower/Ike?

If the Dickies, I quite like them. They come unlined too for warmer weather. The lined one I had in mind a good few winters ago, but ended up going for the similar Carharrt Detroit, which was a good choice as it proved to be practically bullet proof and wore in beautifully.

The lining in the Eisenhower was okay, but the kind that’s a bit ‘not warm enough - suddenly too warm’ if that makes sense? English weather often deciding to leap from dead of winter to summer in 24 hours.

I did try on both. Being very American in sizing, both Dickies and Carharrt were a Small for me (usually a M/L).

Usually, the Eisenhower comes in a nice range of colours though.

Re: The Eisenhower Jacket

Good point.  Yes, I saw the Dickies version.  The military style on Ebay has a rather fetching female modelling them and I thought, hmm or, perhaps, mmm.  I wouldn't wear anything like them nowadays, but I do sometimes miss my 'As worn by Chet Baker and Wes Montgomery' (shtick, I expect) McGregor padded number with the metal toggles.  Wearing that seems an awful long time ago - around 2007, I should think.

Re: The Eisenhower Jacket

The only Dickies ones I've seen are in mustard or black. Again I think there are better options.

Re: The Eisenhower Jacket

The mustard one looks completely shapeless. Something for people who have given up on clothes. Like chore jackets. Apart from the name, I cannot see a similarity to the military garment President Eisenhower introduced which was quite smart.
