Where/how did you get the VAN Heikki? Their stuff looks amazing but i know it can often be very hard to deal with Japanese companies.
p.s. You make the yellow gingham look great, something i'd never really considered before

Re: Absolutely Essential Conservatism

I was sniggered at the other week by a couple of hoody wearing chavs.

I made the assumption that it was for my pink shirt/pink sock combo (not to mention burgundy Weejuns).

They didn't confirm this though (just grunted) when I asked what the scruffy looking fucking tramps were laughing at.

That RRP didn't half talk some bollocks - and how his words, his narrowness of view, now come back not only to haunt him but bite him on the buttocks.
He is now the proud owner of three pink shirts (two Brooks, one Duck Head) plus a cashmere v-neck sweater (and might consider socks).  He is also the proud owner of a very pale yellow shirt (Brooks) he may well put to good use tomorrow.

What must have come over him?

By a strange irony (or something) my lady of ten years back was indifferent to pink shirts.

Re: Absolutely Essential Conservatism

I've recently rediscovered my cache of pastel oxfords. I don't ever remember being particularly into them, swinging more from white/blue to stripe to check and back again.

There they are though. Yellows, pinks, orange. Some I suppose you'd call aqua. I'm enjoying wearing them again. Summer colours, so never looked quite right hiding under knitwear.

I reckon at some time, like the previous poster Trojan, I would have been guilty of trying to match solid sock colour. Which is a look I don't like now.

Re: Absolutely Essential Conservatism

Orange can be tricky.  I used to own a couple - one Ralph Lauren, one Sero.  I think The Weejun might have owned the same Sero ('Mango') - doubtless a few years before I did.  The others, though, in warm weather - why not?  I'm a changed man since rediscovering muted pastel shades.  The white/blue/stripe/check habit is understandable but limiting (I decided).  'Classic' but limited.

I love pink, yellow and pastel colours when the sun comes out. I had a mango RL BD. Don't know what happened to it but it was a good shirt.
I'm getting back into linen as well

My word, speaking of conservative dressing, just check out Bill Evans on that Trio sleeve/cover.  Magnificent - aside from the Don Draper collar.
