Re: Shirts: Tucked or Untucked

I bought some Paraboot fisherman’s sandals a couple of years back so, now warmer weather is upon us, I may attempt the polo shirt tucked in to madras shorts with *white socks and sandals* look. I would need to wear my baseball cap with polar bear logo on it so that people would know that I was being ironic, as opposed to just being a plonker.

Re: Shirts: Tucked or Untucked

I've realised the change in my dress is due to location. It's easy for me to wear Madras shorts, sockless, deck shoes etc now that I'm  living by the Thames Estuary. When I lived inland the look didn't quite work. In Finland countryside it's a different 'ball game' with work wear more suitable. It makes for an extensive wardrobe. Missus took some of my best shirts back to Finland. I did ask her where she thought I would wear them but then I thought it's a good excuse to buy some more shirts from JS.

Re: Shirts: Tucked or Untucked

I follow the basic rule: if the shirt has a straight hem, like a Pendleton Board shirt or shirtjac then you wear it untucked, likewise some popovers have a poncho hem, which again isn’t to be tucked in. Anything else really should be tucked in as unless it’s a modern cut which is short in the body - usually the hem drops way too low to have stylistic credibility. I do stand by the caveat that a popover with a regular hem can look ok but again not if too long.
