Designed in Sweden, made in USA.  Now we have designed in USA/UK/Italy made in China.

Nope, just posted the pic. I think this one's only been listed today - maybe re-listed I should say?

Re: McGregor Mania

i came across one in a thrift store...missing a button but otherwise ok, main problem was that although marked 40 it was pretty wide, and arms were pretty short. just looked this one up on ebay and seller states it's more a 42-44. as a 6'0" long limbed man i'd say this coat would be best for someone in the 5'8" to 10" range with a little meat on their bones.

Here's the donkey coat...

http://books.google.com/books?id=TEgEAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA43&lpg=PA43&dq=mcgregor+donkey+coat&source=bl&ots=mFbXLoQyiL&sig=Zx8nzS1cTNjWogLDeobAFcGahms&hl=en&ei=hodOS_jcDoaIsgPVmtn2Bw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=6&ved=0CBkQ6AEwBQ#v=onepage&q=mcgregor%20donkey%20coat&f=false

ah, the "college coat", still a campus staple. like a donkey jacket but (usually with the addition of a zipper and a garment lining rather than the red plaid one. no rubberized cape under the shoulder, either...

except they actually call it a "donkey" here. fascinating.

Re: McGregor Mania

That 'Comar' coat Jimbo had sounds rather interesting: perhaps a little like my Dhobi: a kind of 'Modernist' number.

Re: McGregor Mania

I have a very old, visibly crumbling, off-white McGregor Drizzler made from 'Cravenette' which might just be the best thing in my wardrobe. I am a fanny magnet in it, or at least I imagine I am, though there is no corroborating evidence. The whole shape, the material, the quality of the zip and the side buckle, well, I tell you, "they don't make 'em like  that anymore".

Re: McGregor Mania

I saved up for weeks to get a navy Drizzler from Austin's back in the late 60s. Somehow or other it got lost in the mix, but I now have two, courtesy of eBay. It's amazing how flimsy and minimalist they now seem though, but still handy when the weather is right.

Re: McGregor Mania

What was that odd bit on the sides?  Something to do with golf swings, was it?  I liked the fact that a yellow one I bought cheap on Ebay had belonged to a former US serviceman who'd been stationed in England.  I ponder from time to time buying another but have never taken the plunge.

Re: McGregor Mania

Drizzlers can run expensive in Japan.  No surprises there then.
