I would appreciate serious input from any poster who has genuine knowledge of the firm in the 1960s. There is a coat on Ebay I rather like the look of (although I would need to lose a little more weight) and would like to know if it's good value at £245.
£245 seems a lot for a second hand coat. You could buy a brand new one for under £600 without the Burberry label.

£245 is a lot for a second hand coat, given that used outerwear seems to go for peanuts on ebay i.e. it is seriously undervalued.. That said, if it’s the coat for you and you are really confident it will fit, then it may be worth some no nonsense negotiation with the seller. Then it will depend how long its been sitting there and how keen they are to sell it.
What I'm looking for is the style that excited George Wettling back in the mid-50s and, I suppose, might well have appealed to a modern jazzer like Miles Davis. I always enjoy the references to chaps like Miles wearing their well-cut English tweeds - far more, nowadays, than I'm likely to arouse much interest in outsourced 'iconic' American clothing be it Bean or Bass Weejun.
Gosh, before I know it I'll be over on 'DW', exchanging scabrous chit-chat with the likes of Sammy Ambrose...
