Can't help with the shoes though.
They look like Hush Puppies to me but I could be wrong. I frequently am.

Thanks again Thaw, for helping with both my enquiries. Had never assumed Hush Puppies had a past like this so this is turning into a wonderful education ;-)
BTW, What is it about the various shades of green from the good old days that gets me excited time after time?
People just don't make garments in those shades anymore. Nothing even close!

I don't suppose for a minute anyone can identify the shoes (or possibly boots - low-top?) the young Gerry Mulligan is sometimes seen wearing. Beat-up and scruffy as they appear they do have a certain charm, as though he'd scuffed around the desert in them maybe looking for The Lighthouse. Or somewhere. Or something. Not invariably 'Ivy League', the emaciated Gerry, but often quite interesting.
Were they Hush Puppies Evans was wearing?
