Didn't someone on here pick up a pair misnamed as 'Aldon'?
Yes I did, black PTB's in VGC for £75 inc postage. I would say they were only worn a handful of times.
Ebay howlers are legion. I've seen shoes described as 'Tickers', waxed jackets as 'Braba'. I bought a tweed jacket recently described by the seller as a little 'grumpy' on the inner lining.
I can imagine black PTBs having limited appeal to many. I remember buying a pair of Loake plain back in 2005. Brought to a high polish they looked like something a Regimental Sergeant Major or prison officer might be seen wearing.
The Japanese & Koreans favour the highly polished black PTB's, going by what's on IG.
When I worked in Harrington's we sold Gant & Tommy, we had some people coming in asking if we sold Grant, Giant, Gaunt & Tommy Hilfighter, so I can understand Braba wax jackets.
Nice, enthusiastic chap on YouTube, waxing lyrical (and at length) about Mr. Bill Evans, displays a rather nice pair of plain black shoes.
Didn't KingstonIan say that, back in the 60s, a black shoe was standard?
Yuca, I seem to remember, does not favour them.
I recently gave away a pair of black wingtips, but I could find it in my heart to wear highly polished black PTBs -
- in which to do The Square Dance.
Like Mr.Bill Evans.
