ROCKY MOUNTAIN FEATHERBED

Has anyone else come across this brand.

I like the look of the Gillets but they're silly money compared to my practical and inexpensive LL Bean Gillet.

With the leather cape detail they remind me of something the Bionic Man might have worn in the mid Seventies.

I could see myself in one with some Bean boots and a flannel shirt on the mean streets of Brum.

Not so Ivy more Americana I guess?

The Japanese are onto it.
Make of that what you will.

Talking of the Japanese, The Weejun's Hutton Boots are now being sold in a nice looking Japanese shoe store.

I never fail to tip my hat to The Weejun.  I hope he's in the pink.  Wish he'd return but I don't suppose he ever will.

Nothing snide meant about the Japanese interest.  But prices do tend to go high whenever they become enthusiastic.

I totally agree AFS, I'd be interested to know how many Yen the Hutton's are selling for.

Japanese eBay sellers are wanting silly money for Alden's.

Sadly, R, they seem to want silly money for virtually anything that captures their fancy.  John Smedley is just one example.  A bit of diligent browsing at their factory shop will get you something in cotton or merino at around the £20 mark.  Add a bit on for the Japanese market.
Kid who runs the local 'vintage' shop tells me he flogs plenty of Filson to Japan, keeping back Dickies and Carhartt for his local customers.  Skateboard types mostly, from what I can gather.

Re: ROCKY MOUNTAIN FEATHERBED

Might be worth buying a couple and testing the Japanese eBay market.

Re: ROCKY MOUNTAIN FEATHERBED

I've only been in the shop once.  Kid who runs it vaping away with plenty of beard and tattoo on display.
But, yes, testing the Japanese market might be interesting.
Ten years ago, after my father died, I sold a late 1950s Ercol dining table with four chairs to a dealer who exported to Japan.  Just Ercol tables and chairs.  So, the table upon which I ate my lamb and mint sauce, did my homework and possibly shagged some young female might well now be gracing a room in Tokyo.
Funny old world.
