My Summer purchases were done early and with the lousy exchange rate and rising cost of living were somewhat curtailed.
But that is no excuse for not looking towards Fall.
There are a number of things on the Wants List already but not from the conventional Ivy sources.
I like the idea of camp Mocs, Bean boots and a fleece lined LL Bean wind breaker.
Some might call this rugged Ivy but is it?
I know the Japanese coined the phrase but is it real or simply a marketing construct.
I suppose it’s East Coast casual.
Paraboot chunky loafers look good too. I know a number of chaps on here say how comfortable they are.
Great clothes are simply just great clothes and the labels attached to them don’t deter me.
I have always thought that in our modern age what passes for Ivy has expanded to cover lots of different bases.
Rugged Ivy has its place in England from around September onwards. East Coast casual, taken up and dusted down and spun around by the Japanese. Still largely 'under the radar' here, but only five minutes ago I was living in Bean or Woolrich flannel shirts, often worn beneath a Russell Athletic sweatshirt and Gloverall duffle coat. The parka Bean made is superb in icy, blustery conditions.
I had three Hunt Club Madras shirts hanging out to dry yesterday.
Looked in a drawer this morning... looked longingly at Bean flannel...
