I suspect most posters on here check DW, it's just many of them don't feel inspired to post.

It looks and feels a bit too elitist for me.

Elitist? They accepted me and Yuca; and Kingy and Hepcat and Formby  are big posters. Well Kingy was ,  but has been quiet recently.

Give it a go. It can't  hurt. Dedicated Ivy Club now.

I have no idea. But other names you will know from here are
FXH, Doghouse and Shooey.

There are a lot of interesting posters.

Re: Ivy and Trad dedicated thread on Dressed Well

It's clearly, almost blatantly, a political forum.
Now, when I attempted to point out the stupidity (or whatever you choose to call it) of Trump and Biden having their campaign materials knocked up China rather than Chicago or South Carolina, a couple of complaints were sufficient to have the thread (such as it was) deleted.

‘It's clearly, almost blatantly, a political forum.’

Told you so.

What was the thread? Who were the complainants?

Maybe it was just a decision by the moderator.

"Florid, smug, middle-aged golf club bore in this country I'd say. Propping up the 19th hole in deepest Surrey bemoaning the perils of immigration."

Did you read the rules?

Rule:

5 Posts are required to start a new thread in any of the forums.

We've set these limits so any old asshole can't just sign up and start posting their bullshit. Also, to prevent spam.'

So did you get sussed immediately as 'any old asshole' or a spam merchant, AFS?

Re: Ivy and Trad dedicated thread on Dressed Well

I love the satirical element in the combination of claiming that DW doesn't matter at all and then having five pages of discussion about it.

I find the Internet in toto an enormous giggle; doesn't everyone?
Of course DW matters, in the same way that genital warts matter.

Re: Ivy and Trad dedicated thread on Dressed Well

Sammy claims total unawareness of who's behind it all.  I say, the Russians.  Quite possibly in cahoots with some rogue element of the CIA.  Then, supposing Castro were still with us, grave suspicion might well fall on him.  At any event it's someone having a laugh at our expense.

Skipper, what do you actually WEAR?

Re: Ivy and Trad dedicated thread on Dressed Well

But you can get cream for genital warts, and getting the warts in the first place is good fun. Is there a cream for Dressed Well?

Oh my, TRS takes me back a bit with the second part of his first statement.
Julie, who almost seduced me over cod, chips and mushy peas back in the summer of '76, where art thou now?

A certain amount of rumbling continues over yonder.  We cause comment, they cause comment.  Frosty would have been in his element, lapping it up whilst simultaneously stirring the bubbling shit with a huge wooden spoon.

Wearing my khakis right now and getting complimented left right and center. Almost as if these bad boys have a voice.

Institutional memory eh? Nearly as idiotic as 'semiotic intent.

If you look at the comments from TI posters they are all used to flog the product. So the guy behind this is the Ivy Style supremo. Unless AFS is not getting a backhander of course. Lol.

Re: Ivy and Trad dedicated thread on Dressed Well

AFS is getting neither a backhander or a forehander.  After facing a £12.000 bill for repairs to his mansion, he bloody well wishes he was as that fine pair of Alden for Anderson and Sheppard cordovan fringe and buckle boots he covets are now quite out of the question.  A tent in the back garden is currently being erected, with 'phone lines etc. run into it to facilitate frenzied crowdfunding.  The very notion!

Re: Ivy and Trad dedicated thread on Dressed Well

I continue to tune into 'DW' between perusing the Sun and Daily Mail.  Der Volkischer Beobachter tends to be late getting here nowadays, as does Grand Dragon Weekly.  It's an awful long journey from Baton Rouge.  But one simply has to make do in these difficult times.
Doesn't one?

I mean, isn't DW just a teensy-weensy bit faux-Wokey Wokey Trotskyist?

Re: Ivy and Trad dedicated thread on Dressed Well

Their Ivy/Trad discussions are sprouting and multiplying like alien spores, with thousands of former scooter boys rushing to participate in the fun while it lasts - which will be until about lunchtime on Tuesday.
Pimpernel appears to be alluding to the possibility of Jimmy having had his horizons widened by that Clive Barker lookalike.
The jury must remain out on that one, possibly spending the night at a cheap hotel.

And it looks like they are using discussions we've had on here, ref: John Simons, Book.
