Re: The Slippery Slope...

I've been getting rid of stuff instead, as my closets runneth over, but I did succumb to the mania and pick up a couple of real beater thrift shop tweeds for honest-to-god outerwear purposes, though. One is kind of cool, a Paul Stuart darted 2B herringbone with no vent and those silly leather things on the elbow; another is an 2B undarted Lands End houndstooth with patch pockets, those silly leather things on the elbow, and a throat latch.

Otter : Take it easy, I'm pre-law.
Boon : I thought you were pre-med.
Otter : What's the difference?

Patrick, sensible chaps of our age are influenced by the weather and prefer to keep our bones warm - hence the wool, the tweed, the cashmere.  Let others shiver is what I say!

Re: The Slippery Slope...

Moose, I'm expecting one I bought on Ebay and it took some searching for!  Vintage Brooks, natural shoulder, leather patches and buttons.  The best I remember, though, and the closest to the one Steve wore was one my Dad had way back, which he used to wear with a black polo neck - kind of red rust coloured.  Also just bought a 1940s Press sportcoat - nice!

Re: The Slippery Slope...

I can remember neither of those jackets, unless the latter was the one I passed onto TRS.
2008 seems an awful long while ago.
To get to the point, though, after perusing one of JFMs old posts I'd begun looking with more curiosity than favour on Ragg and Norwegian-style chunky sweaters.  The patterns and fabrics thrill me not, however.  Another cashmere crew neck seems to be on the cards instead.
