These are strange beasts. Lovely and thick. Ideal for wearing to mid week football matches in January but....
.... the sleeves could be a tad longer and the collar comes up a bit too much flattening whatever shirt you wear.
I was after one for many years and sadly it hasn't lived up to my own hyped perspective.
Woolaways offer great value Norwegian sweaters made of British wool in good old Leicestershire. Their country jumpers and submariners are excellent too.

My Norwegian sweater was from Woolovers when they were in their pomp, before they sold out to a ‘specialist growth equity investor’. I think it’s a great fit and it has lasted well.
I dunno. I can't seem to get my head around them somehow. Perhaps it's because my Dad wore something of the kind (quite possibly L.L.Bean) after one of his trips to CT and NYC. They also remind me of the 'chunky, wiggly' bits and pieces sneered at by Terry in 'WHTTLL'. Very suburban tennis/badminton club.
I assume by 'specialist growth equity investor' Kingers means some flush Chinaman.
Unless you look like Robert Redford circa '72, and who does, certainly not Redford himself these days, then these are a clear no-no. Instant, Ultra-Frump. And it's never that cold in the UK. Never too hot, never too cold, narrowing the Ivy options somewhat...
Outdoors is cold and indoors may get colder with price rises. Norwegian is easy to wear indoors. Submariner not so much.
‘Very suburban’ ? Guilty as charged.
Always scratchy and baggy but worn in the ol’ schoolin’ days with khakis, a button down (and color worked with the navy but pink most prep) and brown bucs with the red crepe soul. Either Bean or store brands (Walkover?) and later Cole Haan.
Can’t remember if mine was a blend. I’ll check.
Someone said here (maybe it was me) that Bean could’ve saved american shirt making and some shoe making had they stuck with those sources. An intriguing thought. There OCBD a step below some of the old greats. But i remember short sleeved OCBD shirts with khaki shorts for summer. Didn’t see a lot out there of the short sleeved but was my look for a while. Never navy shorts.
