Dieter Rams shirt

I got Dieter Rams’ sport shirt cloned. A friend of mine has one of these McCall patterns from the 1950s.

You know the horizontally buttoned ones.

I got the long sleeve version made in a nice blue checked linen.

Certainly beyond Ivy.

Hank - we all have our guilty pleasures. Whisper it, but I like Birkenstock sandals, think they're a design classic, the Bass Weejun of the sandal world. Dieter is one of those glorious purists, completely driven, completely convinced there is a 'right' path. A proper modernist.

Re: Dieter Rams shirt

I recently tried on Birkenstocks. Left me totally confused as I expected the cork to be softer underfoot.

Thought they were pretty unforgiving. I like the look of them though

Re: Dieter Rams shirt

5 years ago I applied there for a job in the HR dept.

Would have been pretty boring, I guess.

Yes, Rams is one of the great modernists.

The picture that shows him in his Frankfurt flat, 1960.

Re: Dieter Rams shirt

That's quite a radically asymmetrical style Hank. Where does the style come from - sport or military? Or modernist designer chic? I reckon you could wear this with a pair of Birkenstocks and really wind the Ivy purists up!

The version Rams is wearing in corduroy gives it more of a ShirtJac feel which I like, also has the feel of a painting smock. If I could sew I'd be tempted to try make one
