Staying off topic I can relate to the tunes at your cousin's funeral Stax.

Let's twist again was played a lot at family parties when a record player was introduced instead of aunts playing the piano. A dance that all could join in, young and old.

Chas and Dave- I saw them play live in a pub near Bromley by Bow when they were just starting out. Didn't know who they were and we could barely get through the pub door. We stayed for a few songs and then left. Six months later I realised who we were watching.

H & O I will have to check out . I remember a female architect I worked with liking them a lot.

Robbie - RG is right about H&O, I was a big fan, saw them @ Hammersmith Odeon in '77, Abandoned Luncheonette & their next album , (I always called it the silver album, but it was probably just called Hall & Oates), are the best of theirs for me, blue eyed soul at it's best, they went too poppy after that but I carried on loyally buying their albums, Also, Daryl Hall made a couple of good solo albums in the '90's,( ' Soul Alone' is worth a listen ),

RG - did you see the 2 part documentary the BBC did a couple of years ago called ' Yacht Rock' covering all the bands you've mentioned, it was presented by that American woman Katie ( Puckitt ?), she must have been in her 50's when they made the docu but wow she was in magnificent shape !

Mind you, all the venues are now gone. From The National in Kilburn to The Galtymore. The craic is no longer good in Cricklewood.

The latest ‘doorway’ picture on John Simons facebook page features a guy who reminds me of Ricky Tomlinson, wearing jeans, a white tee shirt and pretty dire Vans slip on canvas shoes. Not very Ivy I thought. Then I realised it was Allesandro Squarzi, someone from the Instagram world who commands great reverence in that world. Still not very Ivy I thought.
