I fear my IQ would instantly drop and I would unconsciously begin typing in the DW House Style of tedious banality. Say what you like about AFM, and earlier DJFM, but their posting always had a gloriously idiosyncratic, anarchic air. And intelligence shone through all they wrote. In their absence we all become rather dull. I do hope AFM returns, but I wouldn't count on it.
‘I fear my IQ would instantly drop and I would unconsciously begin typing in the DW House Style of tedious banality.’
So you are not keen on ‘undeniability’ then? Always a good word to encourage debate.
I note the word ‘undeniability’ has now been removed from the DressedWell climate change polemic.
It is still a polemic but the title now gives the false impression of a more open-minded approach.

An interesting post over there in the Ivy Club by Barkelot about Leith Clothing, does anyone remember this label?
The post suggests it was started by a Talk Ivy member.
Yes that was Guy, who also worked at John Simons for a while. There are a rather collection of people who have passed through John's shops and been inspired to start their own ventures, me included. Must start a new post about this. His moniker here may have been 'Guy The Bore', but I'm not certain.
I bought one of Leith's Madras shirts, and it's probably my favourite.
I gather Jake Wigham of Jakes shirts bought the remaining cloth off of Leith and started knocking out Madras BD's last year.
Leith also did stripey T's and some nice looking Shetland knitwear. Sadly along with Fitzgerald's & Lean Garments they are no more.
It's disappointing that Leith, Fitzgerald's and Lean Garments didn't last for long.
I was on Tampere, Finland a couple of years ago where the Lean Garments company was based. I walked past where the premises was based and felt bad that I never got round to buying from them. Tampere used to be known as the Manchester of Finland for its textile manufacturing. All gone just like Manchester.

There's more than a thing or two I could say about Manchester but I will refrain here.
Yes, it was Guy who co-ran Leith. I still search eBay for their stripey t-shirts. Lovely Shetlands (I think from Jamieson's) and the Madras shirts before others were seeking out Indian Madras again. Like Fitzgerald's lots of credit deserved, though no doubt was close to impossible then to sustain as more than a hobby...and impossible now in the UK no doubt.
I was a fan of the Leith stripey t shirts. As usual I was too slow in ordering.
There's a Fitzgerald Madras currently on eBay along with a BD chambray by Lean Garments, the same person is selling them both, bit on the steep side considering they are used/second hand.
Whilst lurking on the Leith post on DW, Woof remarked that he picked up one of their Madras BD's in Chiltern St. Didn't say how much though.
RG,
Didn't Leith also do Shetlands for time.
I'm sure an old colleague of mine bought one
@Alvey yes they did, I think they made by Laurence Odie, or possibly Jamiesons.
Okay - I admit it, I was wrong about DW.
Apart from Shooman the great majority of their members are not really interested in talking about clothes. The discussion is focused on politics and the personal obsessions of the forum’s luminaries which appear to be police shootings and coronavirus. I use the word discussion in its loosest sense as most of the participants seem only capable of posting social media links accompanied by moronic sub-140 character emotive outbursts, peppered with expletives.
In my former guise of Woof I had hoped that you guys would follow me over to DW where a separate Ivy Club forum had been set up and we could have happily got on with our chats, remaining insular from the rest. But it was not to be. At one point Sammy Ambrose showed up here banging the drum for DW, which was unfortunate as with his track record as a troll on here I couldn’t think of a worse recruiting sergeant. Anyway … all water under the bridge as they say.
Welcome back Woof!
Yes DressedWell is mostly polemics at best, and rants at worst.
Shooman, FXH, Pimpy and a few others from here (and over there) are still sound and talk clothes and make sense.
I am not sure if there was ever a genuine clothing interest on there, or if it was just a passing fad.
Welcome back Woof, (Barker - Ronnie ?), you've been missed , just need Andy ( AFS) to return and our small ( but perfectly formed) Ivy club will be complete again, I did yesterday for the first time take a look @ DW, you look dapper in the nantucket reds & check shirt, that's enough smoke blown up your backside so now get posting ! Cheers Stax,
Thanks gents for those welcomes to the prodigal son that I am.
Welcome back Woof. You are back where you belong.
Andy AFS are you out there? You need to return as well.
DW didn't seem a good 'fit' for me (or for Woof/Barking/Barker)
BTW Woof - was that you modelling a new JS Ivy jacket in the doorway at 46 CS ? ,
Welcome bark! I'll spin Freddie Hubbard Return of the Prodigal Son in your honour. (As any schoolboy knows, it features Ray Barretto on congas.)

Yes, but I had put a bit of timber on ;-)
I’m sure you’ll be shifting it , nice to know you were still lurking on here in your DW phase,
Did you buy the jacket ?
Woof! Woof! Mr Barker. What have you done with Andy?
