I rather like the author's observation that he had an Edwardian air though he really wasn't wearing anything Edwardian at all.  No costume, no retro-eccentricity.  Just the suggestion of a bygone time without any attempt to copy it.  Perfect in my opinion.

Sure, Grayson, his collars are, ah, substantial and his tie knots could be used to start slacking sailors, but it all seems to work with those outsize whiskers.  Not a look easily copied with success.
