Stax-I saw the flying jacket and thought the market for such an item must be shrinking. Maybe one of the 'famous rich shoppers' at JS might be interested.
I will have to check out the blazer but again the market for such an item, sadly, must be shrinking rapidly.

Good for driving a Morgan or riding a vintage Royal Enfield on a crisp autumn day, but outside of that sort of setting - no thanks.

This morning I was in the bank in our local high street when a chap in his 70s with a teddy boy haircut saunters in sporting a copy flying jacket. The branch manager (who obviously knew  him) looks up from his desk and, quick as a flash, says ‘Hello Bill, have you parked the Spitfire outside then’?

Yep like you Robbie I had the same, ( in khaki ), I followed up in late '69 or early '70 with a dark green pair, as I remember it the Ivy Shop did not stock the Levi's cords, they stocked Wranglers,

Price-wise I think they were around 3 quid in 1968, maybe slightly more than a pair of Levi's jeans, £3 in 1968 doesn't equate to £195 today by my reckoning,

As an aside to Stax aside J Lewis selling Sebago boat shoes at half price. Limited sizes, of course.

Stax-I worked in an old fashioned menswear shop (opposite Dagenham Heathway station) and we actually served each customer, behind a counter, as they came in the door. Lots of RaelBrook shirts etc  sold to women buying for their menfolk. A real eye opener that most men didn't buy their own clothes. Only a Saturday job but I really enjoyed it. Lots of Italian knitwear/ polo shirts as new old stock which I helped myself to. I said I earned £3 but on reflection it was £1.50 with bonus because I was offered £7 a week full time.

WHU now in big trouble and as you say Bees a bogey team, along with Brighton etc. Moyes on borrowed time.

Tommy Cooper use to wear a fez well, maybe someone will match it up with the DJ they had on their FB page recently,

That's good to know. I would pay for that!

I’ve a pair of the FOB bedfords that were maybe 40 quid cheaper than the cord cords. I’ve yet to wear them as immediately after purchase I had surgery and then rapidly expanded. I can attest to the quality though, superb as you’d expect from the Japanese.
I must be going mental in my middle age but 200 quid for a top quality pair of trousers seems about the price these days. Marks & Sparks chinos are only just shy of a hundred quid these days and I put them at the shit end of the market.

More purchases for me this year I hope, rather the antithesis to some of you. Quality, quality, quality - and longevity remain my mantra however, so all things shall be weighed and considered as usual.

It started with colourful shirts when he was on the Andrew Neill politics show with our Diane and went from there. Most of it is now bespoke as it’s an integral part of the train journey programmes. A friend of a friend works on the production team and I’m told an allowance for bizarre clothes is part of his contract. He professes to dress normally when ‘off duty’. When he was the Sec of State for Defence he was well liked at the MoD and seemed to be in touch with the thinking of everyday people He is a grammar school boy from a relatively ordinary background, there aren’t many like that in the Cabinet now.
