I could almost see some of his longer essays collected in book form. Elegiac no doubt. Miss the ol' chum now.

Nothing seen Shooey.
He is out there Chums..
Is Grayson still out there?
If so, we need to bring him back.
He was the suit daddy
He was the shirt daddy
He was the shoo daddy, and many other BIG daddies.
He was everyone's daddy.
He was the BIG daddy of all the daddies.
He taught me how to become a sock daddy, a shoo daddy and a knitwear daddy. Now l am slowly becoming a trousers daddy. I would not have been able to climb the ladder if it wasn't for Grayson.
Hey Horace, can you please tell us all about your shoo leather. What shoos do you own, and how is the leather?
regards,
shooey
Ol’ Shooma Din. How’s things?
He’ll be squatting o’er soles, giving’ shines to poor damned souls,
And I’ll say a little prayer for ShoomaDin
Shooey— nothing too fancy or exotic in the shoe leather Cut down
On the ol’ shoo inventory a while back.
The old calf leather about 4-6 pairs. A few picked up 35-40 years ago
At Ralph Lauren. As i recall very expensive at the time. But a few incredible English leathers.
4-5 pairs of Cordo from Alden
A few reverse calf or suede shoos as well.
A couple pair of Bean boots/shoos.
One pair of formal. Should’ve gone highly polished
Box calf but they’re patent leather. Rarely worn in this
Fallen world where the ol’ black tie has been eclipsed.
A few pairs of canvas. Now old. Rarely do I wear a pair of
Tennis shoos.
Do have an old alligator belt. Not worn as much now. But should be brought back.
Send updates of your comings and going’s shooey. You are the one constant in the Internet forums
For that I salute you.
Yes. Where’s Grayson. He was among the greats.
Really worked up folks. And as I recall he was actually willing
To part with a lot of hard-earned green backs back in the day for bespoke.
Trip ol’ chum — good to hear you’re still with us.

I recall they were Peals, perhaps made by C&J or Edward Green. They were good shoos in those days, all made from the old leather with no corners cut like with those mid end shoes today. So much fiberboard used these days in shoes. Amazing that you also had shell, such a purist. You were a proper shooman old Horace and were probably a role model to many aspiring young shooman.

Well old son, the pair of us have been on the forums for almost 19 years. How's that....almost 20 years older than we were.
Let me just finish with this....i've been chasing the shoo dream for about 50 years. Ole shooma din had a shoo list as long as your arm ever since he was a kid. Aspired to Church's as a kid, and eventually aspired to own the finest shoo leather on Earth.
***The best shoo leather in the world***
Was always curious what it would be like to own shoos made from the best shoo leather on the world. 3 years ago l achieved that dream. The leather is a vintage leather from old English stock, and a world class shoomaker bought the entire supply decades ago. Bespoke makers who have traveled the world told me that no-one has leather like this maker has. The shoes patina like nothing else and they are gorgeous.
These days l take aspiring shoomen under my wing and teach them the ropes, but none of them are hungry to climb the ladder like l was all those years ago. Aside from shoos, l also got into worldclass Scottish cashmere jumpers about 10 years ago, and about 5 years ago got hooked on sox. In recent years l have come to appreciate incredible trousers and sportscoats. I don't need a lot or want a lot, a small versatile wardrobe of high quality items is enough.
