Shame you scarpered. Wayne could have given you a few tips on your beret wearing adventures. Then again....
'I do enjoy the very localised geographical discussed on here... This is the Coronation Hall you're talking about, Kingstonian? I sometimes sit in there to write and it's amazing how busy it is at about 10am...'
Yes the Corrie. Spoons do a decent breakfast trade. Not everybody is drinking alcohol. I prefer a cafe breakfast as I don't like hash browns, but in the absence of a cafe spoons is Ok for a bacon buttie or eggs Benedict.
There used to be a chap with a laptop that always sat near the electrical sockets and just drank coffee all the time. You don't see that so much now.
Today they had removed all the furniture in front of the bar. I was told the staff were having a party around 4pm. I asked if they were closing early and was told no they just wanted a clear space to stop things kicking off. I have never seen trouble in there at any time. The crowd does change over the course of the day and at weekends though. He also told me the King's Tun had lost its music licence. That Spoons used to roll the carpet up at weekends for dancing but it is too big to be well managed with the number of staff Spoons employ.
If you are planning to be in there again let me know and we can meet up.
Definitely, Kingstonian. FlatSixC (that is now your new username, right?) would hopefully join, too.

Yes, let’s fix something up in the New Year, I’ll send an email.
Three pub mini crawl yesterday. Pubs I don't usually go in.
Maypole, then Royal Oak, then Prince of Wales in Surbiton. Royal Oak was a surprise. I thought it would be a bit chavvy with a pool table. Instead it has a fancy refrigerator with 'cave de maturation' written on it and cuts of meat visible through the glass door. Food obviously an important part of their business.
Not many people in these pubs, apart from us, during the afternoon.
As I get older I enjoy breakfast out more and more.
I usually eat/drink things that are too much of a faff to make at home.
It also means I start my day earlier and as a consequence are far more productive.
It does have to be expensive either. A local cafe will do.
Breakfast is also a lot cheaper in many upscale restaurants than lunch and yet you can still enjoy the same quality service.
Back in Leigh on sea, Westcliff, Chalkwell the places to eat out are numerous. I love a breakfast//brunch by the Thames estuary
In Clapham Spoons prior to football. The Corrie manager now works there. Today I spotted the great Corrie barmaid Iris. She told me the manager took her with him. She said the Corrie has more locals Clapham has a more transient customer base.
Decent ales and just waiting on a small pizza. People moan about food and drink inside the ground but I cannot see why you would bother with poor food and drink if you are only inside for a couple of hours. If necessary bring a snack with you.
Toilets much improved in new ground though. I use them.

Kingston1an- you must be euphoric with the way Brentford are playing, Bournemouth shouldn’t trouble you too much tonight. It was nice to see Saints win at Everton, although 2RS may not be so happy!
Kingston1an - I have it on good authority ( my Son and Grandson), the hot dogs at Lionel Road are very good,
They sampled them tonight, I had a couple of pints of Pride in the Watermans Arms before the game which were better than they’ve been on recent visits,
FSC - I think most Bees fans are ecstatic, we’ve been on a gradual upward projectory for about 10 years now, never thought I’d see them in the Prem in my lifetime, my 12 year old Grandson just thinks it’s the norm, I rarely hear any moaners where I sit, some people are even talking about european football, personally the first thing I check is how clear we are from the drop zone !
Should read ‘trajectory ‘ not projectory , must have been the beers and excitement, haha
Brentford are buzzing and it's good to see. Spare a thought for us who support West Ham Utd. We just about managed to beat Brentford in the cup game even if it was (to my surprise) against the Brentford reserves.
Hopefully we can beat Everton sorry 2RS but employing Frank Lampard was a big mistake. Nevermind you might end up with our man Moyes. HaHa
Since coming back to the UK for medical treatment I've stuck to my local pub the Broadway in Leigh on sea. Cheap prices but not for beer experts. So far I've had to make do with looking at the Thames Estuary through my living room window. Might take a stroll down the old town later.
Robbie- I’m sure the Irons will be ok, sincerely hope your medical treatment goes well, take care,
Cheers Stax
Enjoyed a selection of some of weakest beers I have ever seen in a pub yesterday. A friend's birthday gathering in The Albion Kingston -a Big Smoke brewery pub. Ten cask ales on. I had a nice pint of mild at 2.5 %. They also had a steam beer at 2.7% and another ale at 3.2%.Good do.We had reserved most tables in front of the bar. Some of the oldest rockers in town.
Evening before was The Masons Arms Teddington a proper old pub. We lost a straggler on the way home who went the wrong way around the Kingston loop rail line
Still mystified we've not bumped into each other before, Kingstonian....don't see (m)any natural shoulder jackets round this way!
Pop up ads showing me Cataby Abner shoes. They look just like Wallabees but with unnecessary tabs at the side and a fancy back. Under £60.
Now need a card for 10% pensioner discount in Iceland
Waitrose is worse. You need a smartphone for discounts. In the old days you just got paper coupons.
I spent Saturday lunchtime in my local pub in Leigh on Sea watching WHU v Chelsea. Just before the start a guy walked in wearing an off white Baracuta Harrington, white Smedley polo shirt, brown Levi 5 pocket cords. I checked his footwear and he was wearing 6 eyelet brown DMs. It's a look I approve of (even the DMs) and luckily he turned out to be a 'Hammer'. Ivy lives. I nearly put my Harrington on but settled on a 3/2 wool jacket.
Arsenal V Brentford. Then walk/bus to meet an old pal in Crouch End. More middle class there. Nice Edwardian shop fronts, posh cinema, upmarket estate agents but they have lost their local butcher. Wetherspoons left years ago. The remaining pubs are rather bland.
Made our way to Muswell Hill. More of the same and nice views of the centre of town. They do have a Spoons though. Arrived back after midnight but decided against a swift one on the Corrie.
Arsenal now have a drummer.
Better than Pompey I suppose and TCWTB.
Surprisingly, he is an antiquarian bookseller and gets moved to a different seat each season so as to spread the pain.
'Arsenal now have a drummer'
HaHa
At the London stadium a fight broke out on the concourse between two rival supporters. I swear watching on was a 'tourist' in a half and half scarf. He must have been hedging his bets on the outcome. HaHa
A swift lunchtime pint in Wimbledon yesterday and the pub was overwhelmed with old ladies - not pub people at all. Drinkers were in a minority. Getting served was a nightmare. Women at bars and at tills take forever.
Fortunately I had the app. So I sat and waited for the pint to be brought to me.
I later worked out that they were all waiting for a matinee performance of "The King and I" musical in the theatre across the road. I only had the one and left before them. It was like being in an old British Home Stores restaurant or turning up just after the coach parties arrive.
Kingston1an - Are you ' Kingston Bee' on the GPG ?
No. Not me..
Looking at his background, he did not join gpg until 2008.
