‘Pimpy is not Hepcat. Pimpy is a much younger man with a young (30's) family where-as Hepcat is much older (50's).’
Mmm. I used to exchange PMs with 4FHepcat sporadically when he was on here. One time I met up with him for beers where he lives in Holland. During my brief stay at DW I swapped a few messages with Pimpernel, he was one and the same. He’s an interesting guy and is knowledgable about many things, always a defined opinion, always a taste for the good things in life, always some new obsession but a constant love for jazz and big band music.
Sorry to hear about Shooman falling and ruining a white shirt ensemble.
That's the problem with expensive kit. Should be worn carefully - like Sunday Best.
Anyway, it has now emerged that Ask Andy shirtmaker and infamous 'Malinda' moderator Kabbazz has died aged 72. He was a source of great fun for Russell Street when he was in his pomp.
Turns out he came late to the shirtmaking game. Before that he was the disco king of New York and independtly wealthy.

I imagine Paul Whitehouse Archie sidling up to him in the pub:-
'Shirtmaker? I used to be a shirtmaker meself. Thirty years, man and boy before I put my back out.
All that steam and fine needlwork plays havoc with you constitution.
I caught a four pound perch at the weekend tricky landing it.
Do you care for Frank Sinatra at all?'
See Streetlight is trying to inject some wit and humour into the otherwise wokefest.
They seem to be going in circles a lot. Anyone know what's up with that Canadian fellow and his constant anger management issues?
He's dropped some intriguing stream of stream of consciousness stuff...
But he's a nasty piece of work alright.

Hepcat is missed on Dressed Well.
^What are they saying, Sammy? As whatever that post is, it's not available on the public/non-member side of that forum. Some of us, can't quite bring ourselves to join!
Dressedwell is now settling down, with mostly like-minded posters.
It should be renamed though.
On 'new posts' there are sixteen posts before a clothing-related one. Shooman on knitwear.

Yes, l miss the clothing discussions. Few seem to post there anymore; I wonder what happened to them all?? I am thinking the forum may not last too long. All the forums are dying: here, ask andy, S.F, Fedora Lounge and DW. Been thinking about me taking retirement from the forums too....hardly anyone to share with anymore.

^Wonder if it's because the forum frontier is gone, thoroughly mapped and curated?
Shooey - agreed, many people can’t be bothered to read anything more than a sentence or two, the 140 characters mindset. You only have to look at threads on social media to realise that many of the posters haven’t taken time to read or understand what has been written before, they just dash off a knee jerk response and move on. A whole swathe of society have never actually sat and read a book and unsurprisingly, they themselves are incapable of constructing a sentence that makes sense. I find it all too depressing to contemplate.
I think people don't feel the need to talk about clothes anymore, and people can't be bothered reading anymore. People get so many emails and have social media, and it all takes time. The adventure of clothing seems to have left many posters too.
FlatSix, interesting point about the 140 characters mindset. You are probably right. People seem to have short attention spans these days, many are so reluctant to read. Many people lack knowledge these days.
^
I think DW is still doing a great job, Shooey. It's a forum that brings together guys who have an interest
In clothes, but also take an interest in all the ins and outs of the world.
Having an interest in how best to wrap oneself, for one's own satisfaction and that of others, shows intelligence and sensitivity, and that is generally apparent when you look at the DW posts as a whole.

Seem to be struggling to entice the next generation of forum members though.
They've got rid of all the dissenters too. Very much on point now. Very good.

yes we just discussed that very point.

The Fedora Lounge is getting younger members, but the rest of the forums are struggling.
