On the website they have a new collection that looks really interesting.

Mainly blue/indigo work shirts, sweat shirts and chore jackets.

I appreciate that it's not purist ivy but I like the idea of wearing the chambray and sweatshirt for a lazy afternoon at Singer Towers.

Last year they did an oversize work shirt that sadly was ill fitting.

To avoid disappointment I bought last week a 3rd pair of their regular chinos, and a waffle tee / sweat shirt for the Mrs, she bought two (well I paid !), in Uniqlo Penang last month, they won't have them forever and in the past she's wished she'd bought more of certain similar items, and at Uniqlo prices if you buy and don't use for a year or two, it's not a lot of dosh tied up in the back of the wardrobe !

New shirts with a half decent collar roll now being sold for £34.90. I haven't seen them ' in the flesh' but they look ok on their site

Last Saturday I spotted a selection of Merino crew necks in a variety of colours. A great price too.

On closer inspection the quality of the knit was very good.

I have visions of these as a layering piece worn on chilly Summer evenings.

The classic navy looks great as does a dark green.

Lots of interesting items in the new Oxford St store yesterday. I picked up
Stuff for my father, but am going to get a pair of the corduroy walk shorts for myself which looked great. There were mock neck merino knits in the sale in navy and olive. If you like the Black Ivy look there are plenty of chore coats and overshirts in different colors and fabrics.

Picked up a copy of their magazine which is always well designed and art directed.

Ultra light down gilets on sale. They are really light, warm and useful for travel.

Merino has always been good. Even Crompton had to admit that. Decent deep v necks which I prefer.

Wow £14.90 , i pay £14 to have mine hemmed ! I’ve bought 4 pairs over the last 6 months at full price In case they discontinue making them, unfortunately 31 inch waist is a stretch too far for me......

I did spend £30 on an denim overshirt in the sale. Kingston1an  would not have approved as I look like a dustman wearing it but I bought  it for forest work in Finland

But often old school waiters would be better dressed than most of their customers.

Black or charcoal goes with most things. In my second childhood, M&S school trahseez seem under appreciated. Inexpensive, presentable and they took a hell of lot of tough wear.

Uniqlo ultra light down vest is really good. Very warm, packs small for travel. I have a couple of them. Not stylish but very practical.

As a new parent, it was price point which won. Tried the navy one, but the dogtooth tweed won out. Navy a shade too dark for me, maybe. Material isn't brilliant (I remain on the hunt for a brown herringbone wool balmacaan) but I knew that when I got it. But as I don't wear my vintage early 60s cashmere/wool balmacaan around small messy children, this will get me through a couple of winters!
