Transitional Ivy

It is that time if year again...

Darker checks in shirts, thin jumpers, rain coats, start of Autumnal colours, tattersall pattern shirts, maybe even a soft tweed jacket soon

I woke up to heavy rain showers but still warm, so polo shirt and raincoat. Socks for the first time in ages.

I already feel Autumnal with the darker evenings. Rose changing to pinot noir. Bossa is back on the shelf. The seersucker jackets have seen little action this year.

There is still some cricket to look forward to but wearing a coat and scarf for a late September fixture is never the same.

Aficionados talk of Autumn being the season of the clothes-horse with opportunities for layering, texture and colour but to me nothing beats that sockless, short sleeve and chino time of year.

I already have a new shetland on order and will no doubt be shortly looking at tattersalls.

Re: Transitional Ivy

The beauty of Ivy for me is that whatever the season there are good clothes to match. The nights are drawing in, here in Finland and there is an autumnal feel although the temperatures are still highish. I'm soon back in the UK for a bit of R & R

Re: Transitional Ivy

It was 12 degrees when I left early today for train and peak of 16 forecast. I put a thin wool sport jacket on. On Friday it is minimum of 16 and 22 forecast. Transitional indeed.

Re: Transitional Ivy

Navy cord jacket, jeans and desert boots this morning for the first time in ages. Felt great.
I just feel more secure and at ease with a jacket on. Pockets for your phone, sunglasses, wallet etc.
However, as said, back in shorts on Friday...

M&S trench coat from many decades ago. Folk don't wear long coats nowadays. Fleece underneath.

Nice pint of Gadds Dark Conspiracy @£1.99 in Kingston Spoons. Not very busy.

Re: Transitional Ivy

The weather in the Midlands was superb today.

Under normal circs I wouldn't complain and view it as a bonus sockless day in the office.

Sadly I was at a client event. Suit and tie was worn and I sweltered. The A/C wasn't on either.

I had started the day in an OCBD that now resembles a wet dish cloth.

It's challenging to get things right during the transition.

Re: Transitional Ivy

Thursday afternoon, the heavens opened when I was minutes from home. Despite a long trench coat, the bottom of my jeans got soaked.
