John Lewis black 'Ivy League's shoes

As seen in John Lewis Kingston

Very shiny but Dainite soles. Cheap. Seen a lot worse.

I like a proper Danite sole.

Re: John Lewis black 'Ivy League's shoes

With the exception of the shiny leather I thought these were interesting enough.

They reminded me of the non storm welted smooths that have been in and out of UK fashion since the late Sixties.

Interesting that they use "Ivy". The term is cropping up on social media more and more also.

Often with no reel appreciation of what the style is all about. One chap frequently uses the hashtag when showcasing classic English business attire - spread collared shirts, structured tailoring, Windsor knots, etc

To my eyes Ivy has become short hand for traditional or smart.

Now £76 in John Lewis - a 20% reduction.

I don't need another pair of black shoes but if they did them in a burgundy I might be interested

Re: John Lewis black 'Ivy League's shoes

A plain Derby/Gibson is my favourite style - I have plenty.  I like them in both shiny and grain. My C&J are black grain and very nice. But I equally like the Solovair tan grain ones I got recently at a quarter of the price. Paul Smith did some made in Italy Oxblood derbys a few years ago that I got via a voucher I'd been bought for my 50th birthday.

Dependent on the level of chunkiness to the shoe, I like that they can be formal or casual (or that perfect intersection inbetween).
