On BBC TV last night talking about his work at ninety, still dapper in BDs, soft herringbone tweed sport jackets, knitted and repp ties, wool coats and macs.
An interesting life. It reminded me of this I still have bookmarked about Peter Cook's style when they first met:

A cream cracker under the settee.
It was a good idea to write down stuff people say and use it in your writings. He is an Oxbridge version of Peter Kay. Thora and Patricia Rutledge were excellent in his monologues. And he did listen well to old ladies. Good with the other one that lived in a van outside his house. Never really noticed his clothes. Likewise jazzy Dudley Moore.
Peter Kay was better at remembering primary school stuff - even the young girls sayings.
