JS grey herringbone Ivy jacket ordered

I have pressed the button at last. My J.Press one needed to be retired a while ago finally. That was bought from the shop as a one off back in about 2013 and had a lot iof wear. I think that was around £350 back then.

I checked J.Press available from Japan at good prices on eBay, Kanakura but out of stock. JS jacket compares well right now on pricing, so good to support them. I wanted a darker grey one again which is hard to find in Ivy style, others I have in grey are lighter..

I'll report back on how the Bill Evans look comes along.

You won't be disappointed. Really nice, with the buggy lining adding some refinement.

I tried one on. It was too close to the Keydge I was wearing so ended up with the blue shetland

Re: JS grey herringbone Ivy jacket ordered

Thanks AS. I have lots of blue Ivy jackets, they seem to be made more and available over the years.

That said, I may get one in due course from JS. I am glad of the lining as you say.

I see the blue jacket as the male equivalent of the little black dress.

Timeless and versatile.

I've got them in everything from cotton and linen through to wool and tweed. They've become my go to for client meetings.

Work well with chinos, cords and dark denim

Arrived. It is wonderful, very light weight. Mrs Unseen approves.

Re: JS grey herringbone Ivy jacket ordered

Prior to getting the sleeves adjusted on JS new jacket today, I tried in on again and noticed top button is in completely the wrong place if used. I'll never do it up but is this normal for everyone else with JS? On other 3/2 roll jackets the top hole and button align, with appropriate button spacing.

The top button hole being behind the rolled lapel is far higher than the button. So is this deliberate by JS or a quality issue?

If it is a quality issue, it is highly disappointing and totally unacceptable for £600 whether I want to support them or not.

I welcome thoughts.

Re: JS grey herringbone Ivy jacket ordered

Seems it is an error. The top button isn't equidistant with the other two buttons. It even looks wrong to the eye. Very disappointing. At least I can adjust it, but who sends out a jacket without checking this?

Re: JS grey herringbone Ivy jacket ordered

I've always found the quality of JS garments to really vary quite a bit over the years, from absolutely excellent to quite underwhelming. I guess thus happens a bit with new suppliers, but still, you'd expect pretty much perfect from somewhere like JS. Perhaps I'm being a bit tough...

Re: JS grey herringbone Ivy jacket ordered

Unseen - as I read this the buttonholes are in the correct place, but the top button has been attached in the wrong place.

I’m guessing it’s a one off, in which case it might not be noticed in a consignment of 30 jackets. Either way, it needs to be brought to their attention, if you have not already done so.

Very disappointing though when you receive something you’ve been looking forward to and it’s faulty.

In hindsight, think I was probably being a bit harsh...but certainly doesn't sound great in this case
