Dead Poets Society - The Movie.

Another "Trad" fave, eh?

I like the Professor Longhair track most.

I like some of the lad's haircuts.

I like the chinos & crew neck jumpers.

Probably it was THE film which gave the "Preppy" Duffel coat a real shot in the arm.

If we are talking about Love Story over here then this film is usually next on the list of "Trad" flicks.

The Prof., but not from the film:

Re: Dead Poets Society - The Movie.

I liked the clothes, and the movie overall was beautifully shot.  Couldn't relate to the class/social aspects of the film except for the rebel defying and lying to be in a play.  Ok I understand the rebel aspect just not over being in a play.  I suppose I'm very typical American in that I lack any amount of appreciation for literature - the words part.  I do like Shakespear because he tells a good story. I suppose to be a good trad I should pretend I attended a school like that or wish longingly that I had.  Again I like the clothes.

Where would -Debbie does Dallas- come in the trad - movie spectrum?

Is fellatio more trad than buggery?

Can cunnilingus ever be a trad hobby ?

who suggested Pegging -to me by the way?- As something new and novel to try in the new year- I do not like it one little bit- my arse is killing me.

Re: Dead Poets Society - The Movie.

One thing I do remember from high school was reading "A Streetcar Named Desire" by Tenn Williams.  Blanch du Bois askes her beau "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir?".  Funny line from Mr. Williams - a Southern Gay Trad?

I recall thinking the story was sort of high drama but I think I enjoyed it. Robin Williams actually is a talanted actor. and you rarely get a Walt Whitman scene these days. The trouble with those private school movies is that the administrators are always paper thin bad characters. in real life they were pretty complicated.

l liked the clothing styles in the movie (memorable), but l was always dissappointed by Robin constantly wearing rubber soled shoos in the movie.

Re: Dead Poets Society - The Movie.

That's a great shot of JFK.  In a lot of shots, I'm not sure if he's posing or if he just naturally relaxed.  He's sort of on the cusp of that whole thing where the media really influences the view of the President, in a way, say, that FDR, couldn't have been.  Though he did use the radio very effetively, I suppose....

Or do I not know what I'm talking about?

Re: Dead Poets Society - The Movie.

I would like to see a theatrical adaptation where the entire cast are nude. Of course Robin Williams would still look as though he were clothed. I'd cameo as the headmaster: 'assume the usual position'.
