Yogi Bear

I was just watching an old Yogi Bear cartoon with Sam and I noticed that yogi wear a necktie and his friend BuBu wore a bow tie.

Even Fred Flintstone wore a tie. And Curious George's friend always wore a yellow tie.

Many others too.

Those were the sartorial good old days for cartoons.

Re: Yogi Bear

What sort of cloth would you choose to make up the tie for the Man in the Yellow Hat?  Given the sporty/outdoorsy nature of the rest of his clothes, I'm thinking Irish poplin.

Re: Yogi Bear

We're agreed.  What about Tennessee Tuxedo and Chumley the Walrus?

Re: Yogi Bear

Not animated cartoon characters but singularly dapper comic book/strip animals would include Rudy the Chimp--a very George Burns-like talking chimp who was a show business veteran and always dressed very nattily. Rudy starred in his own syndicated comic strip about 20+ years ago.

Another, earlier character would be Captain Marvel's pal Mr. Tawny, the talking tiger. The tiger was a sharp, if somewhat flashy dresser and regularly wore pocket squares.

Re: Yogi Bear

Shooman,

Thanks for the cartoon strip the tiger looks cool. From the looks of the artwork it could be 50 years old.

I see from your signature that you are from Australia so you must be familar with the Australian Broadcast channel. Is it govenment sponsored? as I do not see commercials.

Re: Yogi Bear

I LOVED Politenessman! Some of my co-workers told me I was very like him back in his heyday. I took it as a high compliment--even though he was portrayed as a rather irrelevant figure: For example, when he sees a lifeguard giving a woman mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, he boinks them with his steel hankie and sermonizes briefly on the inappropriateness of public displays of affection.

Re: Yogi Bear

Perhaps some love, though not sartorially, for our man, Zippy?
