Aspirational style is interesting because it does the opposite of that which it intends.
It is meant to show off good taste and ambition, but in fact only highlights the lowly roots of the aspirant.
For to aspire is to yearn to move upwards, to soar, thus broadcasting to the world the fact that your origins are humble and you don't like that fact and want to change.

Well I'm all for self-improvement so I don't knock it. If anything it is to be encouraged.
But linking aspiration to snobery is the interesting one.
The very nature of being an aspirant is to be humble so why are aspirational types so snotty & full of themselves?
I think I need to meditate on this...

I just can't reconcile 'Gentlemanliness' on the Internet with aspiration...
