Re: Dear Harris...

Why kill him?

Better by far to use him.

Re: Dear Harris...

I don't think the GI was a baggy trouser.  It was cut like the old Corbin, and had button fly and a very heavy, nice khaki cloth.  I put a pic. on tattered trad thread a long time ago.

Re: Dear Harris...

From Uncle David's PM Postbag:

"My Khakis post was just to kick off the 'What is Trad?' question on a new front.
The 1940's original Khakis cut is popular in Tradland - It is seen as the Traddest. But they don't match it with 1940's cut jackets. For jackets the 1950's or 60's are the Traddest.
I know the OPH line you mention & suspect it was Harris' inspiration. And it's a valid choice for him. Other choices are also entirely valid & historically sound... But are they AAAT Trad?

I wear khakis in all cuts & colours & makes depending on mood. I'm very fond of Bean's product. It's all classic American style to me. But not all of it is AAAT Trad."

Re: Dear Harris...

I've made the point, previously in these pages, that baggy pants DO NOT comport well with slim sack jackets. It's all about proportions and too many people just wear what they like without ever looking in the mirror. Or maybe they only look in the bathroom mirror over the sinke and don't notice they are pairing a slim jacket and slim tie with oversize pantaloons.
