I would suggest you check out the Bobby Jones "Collection" shirts at Hickey Freeman.  They have (or had) a very fine pique fabric which is very nice, though its tight weave does seem to wrinkle unlike the more loosely knit, typical pique.  They also feature a large variety of nice lisles, although I think these are all patterned.  Some of the patterns are very nice, others quite ugly.  Note the "Collection" shirts are made in Italy, whereas the "Players" line is made elsewhere.  Also, in my experience, the Collection shirts run large, so try one on before buying.

Another option for lisles is the Jeff Rose line.  I guess he started the Bobby Jones line at HF, then struck out on his own.  Like the BJ lisles, interesting patterns but perhaps with a more varied palette -- more pastels then the BJ -- though again the patterns range from attractive to over the top.

I'm less of a fan of the Smedley type polo shirts, as I don't like the weave of the fabric.  I think it is too thick and just doesn't have the right look for a short-sleeve polo, though it is perhaps okay for a long-sleeve one to be worn under something else.

I just picked up a new Fred Perry.  Made in England, sized properly (38, 40, 42, etc).  Fabric seems pretty nice too, though I haven't washed and worn too many times.  Good stuff.  I'm usually a no logo guy, but I've made recent exceptions for FP's laurel, and a Lacoste, which I don't care for because of the lack of the tennis tail.

PS.  I thought the finishing on the inside was pretty nice too.
