J. Press Spring/Summer 2008

Just got my copy of the catalogue.

No problems here that I can see.

Just Press being Press.

I'm hoping people will complain that the collection isn't "Trad" on AAAT... Odd that when they say things like that they never think that their "Trad" is at fault rather than J. Press.

How could J.Press be "Trad", other than in Japan where the term means something very different?

Press is Press. It came before Spetember 14th 2004 on AAAC.

If you can't fit Press into your "Trad" then you need to learn just what Classic American style is, Ol' Chums!

wink

I am gratified to see the double breasted blazer has survived, another season at least.

What has changed since other catalogs? Nice clothes, but I don't see an sea changes.

Re: J. Press Spring/Summer 2008

Just scanned Andyland and they're being far too grown-up over there. Where's the fun in that? "Trad" is meant to be childish!

What about that unshaven bastard on the front of the Press catalogue? He's probably going to steal that car... Hands in his pockets probably fiddling with his nuts... One shoulder up like Quasimodo - Probably he ended up that way from excessive wanking....

Then check the inside back cover! The bastard's back again showing his unkempt hair and filthy face - Hands still pushed in his pockets. He looks like a Gypsy to me... HE HAS NO PROPER EAR LOBES!!!!

I must say I didn't expect this kind of loathsome filth from J. Press of all people. If it were Brooks then you'd understand it - They're Italians you know - A hot blooded lot. They even have sex in the morning over there...

Page 4 sickened me too - Polo shirts shown next to Chess pieces: One looks like a little black cock and the other is that horse one. What has the vile intellectual indoor game of Chess got to do with Polo shirts? It all looks Gay to me.

Has nobody else spotted any of this?

The only pictures I really like are on page 13. On the left: What one wears next to the skin. On the right: How one covers it up with a BD and a Mac before you go out on Boston Common to meet your friends.

That's what Press has always been about: Decorum.

I like that navy glen plaid jacket.

Word is the shoulders are better this season--wish they could shrink those lapels, though.

And you have to admit that guy on the cover looks pretty ridiculous.

Re: J. Press Spring/Summer 2008

The entire sense of the catalogue, I think is to attract a younger buyer. This is probably necessary, as I suspect Press's customer demographics are even more aged (average age) than Brooks Brothers. They are trying to look hip, and I think it is working (at least in marketing).

Re: J. Press Spring/Summer 2008

I'm kinda P.O.'ed that other people have gotten Press catalogs and I haven't yet. I recently bought four neckties from the ol' Squeeze, and I thought that might suffice to land me among their catalog recipients!
