When will they, offer hi wool shorts in, Nantucket red ?
I'm finding it hard to avert my gaze, from the (pretty) pictures.
As I am about 3,000 miles from the nearest J. Press B&M store, what's in the store but not in the catalog or on the website is of no moment to me, alas.
Some on the website look to be old stock. Care must be taken by those seeking soft shoulders.
The shoulders and look of the medium gray Pressidential (on the cover of the .pdf catalogue) look great. I really like a lot of what's in the catalogue- the new madras shortsleeves, shirts, the glenplaid sportcoat, the striped boaty linen sweater, and the deconstructed jackets in the "outerwear" section. Anyone find the casual stripey shirts a little odd? I kinda of like the buttons that stand out but I'm ingrained to dislike the stripey Amjack.
Horace - I thought you meant these:

If so, I agree with you.
I was told by a salesman that some (perhaps all) of the new stripe and patterned ties are Made in China. He wasn't exactly sure why. Am I the only one who thinks that sucks?

Somebody told me that they had made in China "Shetlands" now too. Can't remember who - An AAAC guy who posts over here?
Profit margins...
Hadn't heard that, but I don't have any of the Press Shetlands anyway. I guess it isn't too surprising.
I did just take delivery on one of their Gingham BDs. Still USA made. It's a good shirt.

The merino wool v-necks this fall were made in China. Not sure about the shetlands though.
a few of their ginghams I found to shrink horribly. May've been the fabric as the maker was the same as the OCBD avec flap, which was very good, to my taste.
As to ties, the number ties were Made in China and sold for the same price as the USA stuff I thought. A practice I don't like, but maybe they thought it was throwaway fashion.
I think the spring/summer offerings are great. So much I could buy if I could. What I like about Press these days is that it pushes me to stretch a bit. I can be such a bore.
Suit and jacket wise, they seem to be offering all the staples in XLong this year, which is fine by me. Better than recent times. And the exotica simply serves as inspiration for potential Douglas MTM.
I like the expanding selection of shirts. They've been criticized for keeping fewer of the flap OCBDs on hand, but this is an area where they compete too much with Brooks. Brooks is weak in traditional broadcloth offerings, giving Press a golden opportunity. I've only had shrinkage on the bold periwinkle gingham of 2 years ago, most likely a fabric problem - nothing to blame Press for.
Ties made in China is an interesting development. I don't think I'm going to get too worked up over it though. All those chinese need something to do.
