Label prejudice

Hopefully Heikki doesn't beat me to it, but here goes :

Many have a prejudice against certain clothing labels, or so it seems. For a reason or purely instinctive, they all count. I've had some myself in the past for no particular reason really, but I managed to put them all aside for which I'm a much happier person ( or Stylist in this case ).

So, please feel free to rant about whatever label and in any way you see fit  smile

The Look ( colour/quality ) comes before the label for me anyhow cool

Re: Label prejudice

The only stuff I would really avoid is our own 'DeutschJack' look of Lloyd shoes, Boss, Hilfiger and (yep) Polo.

I tend to avoid things (even polo shirts) with outside labels, which makes it easier - and try to concentrate on fit. Difficult enough.

Re: Label prejudice

I try to avoid labels but do try to wear a lot of Burberry plaid, shirts, hats, boxers, coats, scarves.  I would do LV but the 'L' and 'V' are too much like a label. LOL

Re: Label prejudice

l've always had a hate for Calvin Klein, eventhough i've never worn it. The lower range clothing spoiled the image....it was too ubiquitous.

l've always had a hate for Ralph Lauren, eventhough i've never worn it. The initial image of R.L is a turn off and never wants me to even give the clothing ranges the time of day.

Tommy Hilfiger turns me off. Seen too many losers wearing his stuff. l have no respect for him as a designer...all he seems to be interested in is dollars. No pride in design.

l have true prejudice for clothing under those names.

Re: Label prejudice

As for casual wear my fave labels are Paul Smith, lacoste and Hugo Boss in that I own shoes, coats, jackets, trousers, knitwear and shirts/tops from those brands. Other gear that I own includes Armani ( jeans and trousers and a tie ), Gant ( a handsome raincoat and just the one shirt I think, apart from two watches ), Polo RL ( just two shirts ), A.P.C. ( a great cord jacket in aquamarine and a scarf ), Pringle and Penguin ( knitwear and tops ), Stone Island and CP Company ( various stuff ), Poggianti ( shirts ), Burberry ( Harrington jacket and the one shirt ), Helmut Lang ( cords/jeans ), Duffer of St george ( dress shirt ), John Smedley ( knitwear ), Hackett ( one cotton jumper in pink ) and even a zip up cardigan from D&G ( subtle labeling though ). Quite a wide range I suppose and yet all the items fit my personal style nicely and I'm very, very picky believe me.... my best suit is from Pal Zileri BTW..... jeans are Lee and Wrangler mostly apart from the stuff mentioned.....

Re: Label prejudice

I used to have severe label prejudice but not for a few years.  If it looks good, fits good, made well enough, I could care less about the brand.

I own gear from Diesel that I love, among some of my favorite stuff I own, even tho the label in general is not my cuppa

I've even seen stuff I like from Juicy Couture that I wouldnt hesitate to buy.

The current season of D&G is conceptually great, very preppy/tennis club inspired gear....it's too bad they put a huge D&G crest on everything, otherwise killing a good looking garment

My support of labels I like is far stronger than my prejudice towards any that arent "correct"
