Anything possible to do with old madras jackets?

I have two old ones, one blue white and maroon, the other green, light green, blue, and red.

They fit me before that early 20s growth of the chest and shoulders. They're 38s and I'm now a 42.

I know so little about tailoring, is there anything that can be done with these besides a donation to the Junior League or Goodwill?

Like, could I have someone make them into two pairs of madras shorts?  One pair of patch madras shorts? Or is there not probably enough fabric.

I don't like to see nice madras go elsewhere if I can still use it.

Suggestions, or reality checks, welcome.

Altering shoulders, despite what you might read on Andyland, is impossible. Or not recommended. I'm afraid you'll have to part with those jackets. Or keep them, and when you are an old man and have lost all your middle-aged weight, you can wear them again.

A rather twee suggestion -

My Madras is mainly shirts & shorts which wash and wear to rags in due course. The seams tend to go first.
My wife cuts up the old items as this happens and is making a patch-Madras quilt out of them starting in the centre and radiating outwards as new shirts die.

It looks very nice so far.

How about a pillow case?

I like the way you think.

Maybe with a Chambray bedspread?

True story: When my Mother first saw a Blue/White Brooks Uni Stripe BD she thought it was made from Ticking.
