Mufflers/scarves

Seeing the pics MM posted on the wearing thread got me thinking.  i have my grand-dads scarf/muffler which is either silk or rayon.  It's navy blue with light blue/white/navy paisleys all over it.  Feels very nice wearing it.  i'm don't really like the ones that are wool on one side and silk-rayon on the other.  I think my grand-dads is from the 40s so it would be art deco.  What's your favorite?

You love him? He is hephaistion.

I like those synthetic silk scarves a lot, and they are a lot less bulky than woolen scarves. The warm-lined ones are cosy in the cold though. One thing I like is that older scarves, like ties, seem to be a lot shorter than today's offerings.
Like a tie, a scarf really can set off an otherwise bland outfit.

In my neck of the woods, scarves are outerwear, and cashmere seems to be the right trade-off between mere warmth and the right look for business. I have a red, a grey, and a cream -- all are solids. I'd like one of those silk patterned on one side, and wool solid on the other -- probably in navy, since that is the colour I am missing.

I like the Tootal scarf's... I've collected them from when I was at school and have around 25 at the mo'. Pailsey and polka dots and few other other patterns but of all colours... a scarf for every occasion! I don't wear the wool backed Tootal scarf, as mentioned byMike above, as they're too thick and too short and I can't wear them with out it feeling .. well ...bulky. Sammy also made scarfs in the same vein too. The Tootal brand has recently been resurrected.

'Tootal was established in 1845, making it one of England's oldest brands. Famous for its polka-dot and paisley silk scarves, they were a popular accessory from the 1920s to the 1950s with the working class.'
